Dengue is a common viral fever spread by the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes. It is also called "break-bone fever" because it causes severe body and joint pain. Most cases are mild, but some can become serious with low platelet count and bleeding. There is no specific allopathic medicine for the dengue virus, so treatment focuses on rest, fluids, and hospital care if needed. In homeopathy, medicines are used as supportive care to help the body fight the illness, reduce pain, and support recovery. Homeopathy cannot cure dengue on its own. Always get tested and follow a doctor's advice.

(Images above show common symptoms of dengue like high fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pain, rash, and warning signs.)
Causes
- Bite from Aedes mosquito carrying dengue virus.
- Virus spreads when an infected mosquito bites a healthy person.
- More common in rainy season when mosquitoes breed in clean water.
- A person can get dengue more than once (different types of virus).
Symptoms
Common symptoms appear 4–10 days after mosquito bite:
- High fever (up to 40°C or 104°F)
- Severe headache and pain behind the eyes
- Severe muscle pain, joint pain, and bone pain
- Tiredness and weakness
- Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite
- Skin rash (red spots)
- Mild bleeding from nose or gums in some cases
Warning signs (need immediate hospital care): severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding, cold clammy skin, drowsiness, or difficulty breathing.
Homeopathy Medicines with Key Symptoms and Doses
Homeopathic medicines are chosen based on the person's exact symptoms. The following 10 remedies are commonly used to support dengue cases. A qualified homeopath must select the right one. These are general guidelines only. Take under medical supervision and continue hospital treatment if required. Doses given in very simple form: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets in little water, 2 times a day (adjust as needed during high fever).
Eupatorium Perfoliatum Best for high fever with severe bone pain and body ache as if bones are broken. Patient feels very chilly and restless. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day.
Belladonna Useful in sudden high fever with red face, throbbing headache, and hot dry skin. Eyes look bright and patient is sensitive to light. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day.
Rhus Toxicodendron Good for fever with severe muscle and joint pain that improves with movement. Patient feels restless and better from warm applications. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day.
Bryonia Alba For fever with body pain that worsens with slightest movement. Patient wants to lie still and is very thirsty for large amounts of water. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day.
Gelsemium Indicated for dengue with heavy eyelids, dizziness, weakness, and trembling. Fever with chills but no thirst. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day.
Arsenicum Album Helpful when there is great weakness, anxiety, restlessness, and burning pains. Patient wants small sips of water and feels cold. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day (especially if weak).
Phosphorus For dengue with bleeding tendency (nosebleeds or small red spots on skin). Patient may feel very hungry or thirsty for cold drinks. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day (use with care).
Carica Papaya (Papaya leaf) Supports increase in platelet count and helps with weakness and low platelets in dengue. Typical dose: 30C or mother tincture (few drops), 2 times a day.
China Officinalis Useful after fever for weakness, loss of fluids, and tiredness due to dehydration. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day.
Pyrogenium Indicated when fever is very high with offensive sweat or body feels sore all over. Used in septic or complicated cases. Typical dose: 30C, 2 drops or 3-5 pellets, 2 times a day (under guidance).
Important guidance: Dengue can become serious quickly. Drink plenty of fluids (water, ORS, coconut water), take rest, and eat light food. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen as they can increase bleeding risk. Check platelet count and get hospital care if warning signs appear. Homeopathy can be used as support with doctor approval. This information is for education only and not a substitute for medical treatment. Consult a qualified doctor immediately for dengue testing and a registered homeopath for proper remedy selection. Prevention is best — use mosquito nets, repellents, and remove standing water. Early care saves lives.
